Ground Control to Major Tom

"Ground control to Major Tom…” — a message of intended connection and guidance. But as the song unfolds, we see what happens when communication breaks down. When Major Tom, lost in space, becomes a symbol of isolation, cut off from his mission, from humanity, and ultimately from himself.
It’s a reminder that while technology can propel us to incredible heights, it can also leave us drifting if we don’t stay grounded in our mission and connected to each other.
We live in an era of relentless technological advancement, and while it’s exhilarating, it also brings with it deep uncertainty.
Technology Can Take You Far, But It Can’t Be the Only Guide

"And I think my spaceship knows which way to go. Tell my wife I love her very much she knows." ~ Poor Old Major Tom
As humanity has evolved its navigational technology, our own senses and intuition have become more and more disengaged from the mechanics of it — from ancient human navigation, where a positioning was calculated by the stars, to the Age of Exploration, using maps and a compass, to modern-day navigation using satellite and GPS technology.
Major Tom put his faith entirely in his spaceship, but that same technology left him stranded. A reminder that: if we become too driven by tech — without engaging our human sense of purpose, compassion and intuition— we risk becoming isolated, like Major Tom, floating through space with no way back.
Are we staying connected to the human needs behind it all?
Are we aligned with our mission, or are we drifting off course?
Hold on a Second: Who's Watching? And what is the Consequence?

"And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear. Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare." ~ Ground Control
As Major Tom drifts away in his trusted capsule, the world is keen to know who and what he stands for. "Whose shirt you are wearing" isn’t a question of image. It’s a question of responsibility. As leaders, innovators, and stewards of the future,
Who are we accountable to? Who is watching? And who will clean up our mess?
Our children and future generations are observing the world we create. They’re looking to see if we're courageously following paths that are true to our values and to the wellness of the world they will inherit — or if we’re someone else’s shirt.
For me, responsibility isn’t about appearances; it’s about showing up, taking action, and responding to that which we are awake to. Now is the time to leave the capsule, to step forward as the responsible ones. The shirt we wear is our own, a reflection of the choices we make and the future we are committed to building.
Together, we can leave the capsule — we must dare.
Are you acting in responsibility to all that you are awake to?
Are you shaping up to be an ancestor worth claiming?
Ground Control: Revisiting Your Mission
"Here, am I floating in my tin can, far above the moon? Planet Earth is blue, And there's nothing I can do." ~ Poor old Major Tom
Major Tom’s journey evokes the feeling of drifting, detached from what matters. But here’s the truth that seems to echo in history: even when it feels like there is no hope, you're not always powerless.
In a world increasingly shaped by technology, with technology still dominated by the voices of white men, it’s easy to overlook the holistic picture of human collaboration, spirit, and ingenuity that makes real progress possible.
Take, for example, the story of Mary Jackson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Katherine Johnson, three brilliant Black women who played critical roles in the U.S. space program during the 1960s. At a time when segregation and gender inequality were deeply ingrained in society, they broke through barriers at NASA by leveraging their mathematics and engineering expertise. The fact that they helped launch John Glenn into orbit and contributed to the success of numerous space missions demonstrates that when the fullness of human intelligence, purpose, and technology evolve together, the impossible becomes possible.

Are you actively challenging the barriers that hold back collective progress, or are you content with the status quo?
How are you ensuring that all voices are included in shaping the future of innovation and progress?
Are You Drifting, or Are You Grounded?
Ground Control to Major Tom, Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong. Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you hear me, Major Tom? Can you... ~ Ground Control
It’s easy to feel adrift, as if you're stuck in that proverbial tin can. But just like history has shown us, you can steer your mission. And with us by your side, you’ll always have a steady hand on the helm.
Our mission is to prioritize human needs in technology evolution, ensuring that meaningful connections are maintained while sparking innovation and creativity. And when things go off track, we’re not just here to observe — we’ll roll up our sleeves, dive in, and help you steer things back on course.
So, as I sit here wundr’ing who this beacon of thought might resonate with, I’m reminded that we all experience moments of drift — moments where we feel simply disconnected, lost and alone.

So, I’ll leave you with these questions:
When was the last time you checked in with ground control?
Are you staying connected to your mission, or are you drifting like Major Tom?
When was the last time to reached out to your Major Tom's, drifting at the helm of your shared tin-can initiatives?
We’re here to help you reconnect, recalibrate, and make sure that, as you navigate the complexities of technological change, you remain grounded in your mission — with both feet firmly planted on Earth, even as you aim for the stars.
If you’re ready to ensure your mission stays on course — or if you feel like you’re drifting — let’s talk. Engage via the comments below or book a consultation. We’re here to help guide you, whether you’re launching something new or trying to get back on track.
Reach out, and let’s keep things grounded together.
